My Sister, My Love (2007) - 1 Movie

"I fell in love for the first time. I fell in love with my sister..." Arashi heartthrob Matsumoto Jun stars in My Sister, My Love (a.k.a. Boku wa Imoto ni Koi Wo Suru), the latest and perhaps most controversially themed "pure love" youth romance from Japan. Based on Kotomi Aoki's popular manga which sold over six million copies in Japan, the film revolves around the forbidden love between two teenaged twin siblings. Despite the sensitive topic, the feelings of hope, love, yearning, and pain depicted in this heartrending story are universal and affecting. Matsumura Jun, who impressed audiences earlier with his performances in Tokyo Tower and Hana Yori Dango, gives a quietly arresting performance opposite Eikura Nana (Lemon no Koro). Director Ando Hiroshi previously directed the critically acclaimed Blue about a confused romance between two teenaged schoolgirls, and he brings to this film that same mix of misty-eyed romance and aching clarity. High school student Yori (Matsumoto Jun) is in love, but it is a love that cannot be spoken. Close with his twin sister Iku (Eikura Nana) since childhood, Yori knows that his feelings for her are more than just that of sibling love. He tries hard to hide his feelings and even push Iku away, but the emotions within him keep growing stronger and stronger until one day, he confesses his love to his sister. Although confused at first, Iku gradually realizes that she too feels the same way, but they know that their love can never be accepted.
